Inside a BioCharger NG Session in Kennewick: Plasma Light, Fields and Seating Distance
The BioCharger NG at Spinal Fitness Health and Wellness Center in Kennewick, WA produces 4 outputs from 1 unit: light from plasma tubes, a high-voltage electrostatic field, pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMF), and harmonic frequencies carried as radio waves and sound. Its maker states that the device “generates high voltage/low current frequencies that ionize noble gases into a plasma state”, and that the plasma light covers approximately 1,000 wavelengths. Members hold 24/7 access through a door code issued once training is complete, and every Thursday from 2 to 6 PM the center is open to new visitors for a free session.
Output 1: plasma light from noble gases
A plasma is a gas in which a high voltage has stripped electrons from its atoms, so the gas conducts electric current and gives off light energy. In the BioCharger NG the plasma forms inside glass spectrum tubes filled with noble gases, and the maker’s FAQ states those tubes “produce approximately 1,000 wavelengths of light energy”, including visible light. Each noble gas emits its own set of wavelengths. The eyes register this output directly as the glowing tubes; it reaches the skin as visible light. Light acts on the body only where a molecule absorbs it: a 2017 review of photobiomodulation by Michael R. Hamblin in AIMS Biophysics names opsins, which “absorb mainly blue/green light via cis-retinal”, and flavin-based cryptochromes as the absorbers for blue and green light, and states that those wavelengths “have major problems with penetration depth”, so they are absorbed near the surface, in the eyes and skin.
The maker’s FAQ lists running a program without the plasma tubes installed for people sensitive to flashing light. The center’s own screening asks anyone who is pregnant, has a seizure history or is sensitive to flashing light to check with their healthcare provider before a first session.
Output 2: the electrostatic field
The high voltage that lights the tubes also builds an electrostatic field around the unit, the second of the 4 outputs. The center’s service page states that during a session you may “feel a light tingling from the electrostatic field”. The treatment area carries 2 room rules: water goes in a non-metallic bottle, and metal objects in the area are not touched while the program runs.
Output 3: pulsed electromagnetic fields
The maker describes a “customizable sweep of digitally pulsed electromagnetic fields”, output 3 of 4. A pulsed magnetic field passes through clothing and, by Faraday’s law of induction, a changing magnetic field induces small electric currents in conductive material, which includes body tissue. At the cell level, a 2013 review by Arthur Pilla of Columbia University in Electromagnetic Biology and Medicine describes evidence suggesting that calmodulin-dependent nitric oxide signaling is involved in the cell response to weak nonthermal pulsed fields, and that a pulsed signal can be configured “to increase the rate of CaM activation.” It is the same field type the center offers on its own through the PEMF loop, hand paddles and full-body mat, where the field is placed directly on the body instead of across the room.
Output 4: harmonic frequencies and sound
Output 4 is a set of frequencies and harmonics, carried as radio waves and sound, which the maker describes as “variable frequencies and harmonics”. Part of it is audible: the service page notes soft tones heard through the session.
Why the chair sits 3 to 5 feet away
The maker’s FAQ recommends sitting or standing “approximately 3-5 feet from the unit” and adds: “as the distance from the device increases, the field power decreases sharply.” Electric and magnetic field strength falls off steeply with distance from a source, so a chair at 3 feet receives a stronger field than a chair at 5 feet. The maker sets a separate rule of at least 6 feet for people with electromechanical medical devices. The center’s rule is stricter: no session at any distance with a pacemaker, defibrillator or other implanted electronic device. That rule is a facility restriction on the equipment, reviewed with every guest before a first session.
Recipes and session length
A session runs 1 program, which the maker calls a recipe: a sequence that sets how the 4 outputs run together. The maker’s cloud library lists more than 1,400 recipes. At the Kennewick center a session runs 9 to 30 minutes, depending on the recipe used, and the published cadence is 2 to 5 sessions a week for 10 to 12 weeks, which is 20 to 60 sessions in total. You sit fully clothed, nothing is attached to you, and a small group can sit in on the same recipe together, each person in a chair within the 3-to-5-foot band.
Visiting the center in Kennewick
A single BioCharger NG session is $25, and access is included with monthly memberships. The free Thursday session for new visitors, 2 to 6 PM, rotates 1 service per Thursday among the BioCharger NG (up to 30 minutes), the 7 Wave light panel, Brown’s Gas, PEMF and the hot exercise room. Spinal Fitness Health and Wellness Center is at 214 E. Albany Ave, Building E101, Kennewick, WA 99336, serving Kennewick, Pasco, Richland, West Richland, Benton City and Walla Walla. Call or text 509-670-9713 to book; individual experiences vary. Eileen Durfee founded the center, has worked in the health field since 2010, and is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer.
